Opps, we crashed :) Badly.
Custard suffered a huge hdd failure 4 hours after bringing it back to life on the 21/07/2004.
Basically, two drives in the three drive raid5 array died roughly at the same time.
This is quite unheard of !
Everything not backed up HAS been lost (this excludes the system configs/domains etc).
Sorry. Its a free box after all..
This message is running on a temporary box, until around tues/wed next week when I can do the rebuild.
If you need to contact me, then please use 'ml+custard (at) martinleach.com'
If you have a domain, and require mail to be forwarded to an external account, then please let me know.
You'll also have to set the nameservers via your registra to :-
ns1.custard.org
ns2.custard.org
toybox.ripe.net
Everything will swap over transparently when the box is back and kicking.
Think thats it.

Update 09:15 26/07/2004 - New disks arrived. Box will be rebuilt during the next couple of days.
Try logging in from wednesday night.
If you get an incorrect password message, then you'll have to email
me and try to prove that its really you and not someone trying to
get an account or hijacking someone elses..:)
Update 14:30 28/07/2004 - Box almost rebuilt. Work continues to get everything reinstalled.
Update 17:30 28/07/2004 - Box reinstalled/recompiled. No userspace stuff though.
Leaving Middlesborough for the 4-5 hour drive home through rush hour traffic.
Will continue when I get home..you luckly ppl...
Update 00:30 29/07/2004 - Logins reinstated. Email me with password etc.
FTP Server installed.
Update 21:00 29/07/2004 - Stacks of stuff done :)
Email now working - 20,000+ emails hit the box, taking it to a load average of
around 90, but it still continued to work. Good old FreeBSD :)
POP3 working. IMAP abit buggered.
Apache will be the next to be installed, but that means wrestling with some new
freebsd based ports/php framework which appear to be coded from hell...
About 10 people so far have asked for password resets...anyone else ? :)
Taking a short break now...
Update 02:50 30/07/2004 - Imap server working. It will NOT work with Outlook 2000+, due to being classed
as a buggy client, but everything else appears to work. There are a few gotchas
regarding it, which i'll post later. I'm off to bed..
Update 15:00 01/08/2004 - Pine - Seeing as I cannot get pine patched successfully to use Maildir, the only option
is to make it connect to the local imap server. Therefore, when you load pine, you'll
see a short time out and then get prompted for your local login details.
Please see http://www.cs.utk.edu/~help/mail/pine_imap.php for more info.
Additionally, you could use Mutt, which is alot better..
If you use IMAP externally, and also filter via procmail then please be aware that
you'll have to find a way via procmail to filter the messages correctly into the
Maildir format so that you can pick them up via IMAP. Hopefully when I get round to
installing the webmail client, then this will pick the directories up.
Hope that all makes sense...
Procmail addition - In theory to filter to a Maildir compatible folder, do something
like $HOME/Maildir/.foldername/ for the folder where you want to filter into.
Googling for 'procmail filtering into Maildir format' found alot of info :)
Apache/webmail/etc should be live this evening.
I'll also start importing emails from the last backup (7th ish July) into people's email folders...
Update 06:00 02/08/2004 - Apache, webmail, and mysqladmin restored. Rejoice. Mailman left to do..
Update 19:00 03/08/2004 - Caves is back :)
